A map of site specified amount of soil nutrient (140) is applied in fertilizerto an agricultural field using a map of specified amount of the nutrientneeded to produce the maxiumum yield (132). Subtracted from the amounts ofneeded nutrient from the current existing nutrient in the field (138) and thusproducing the map of site specified nutrient amount to be added to the soil(142). The nutrients amounts are added by using the map and conventionalvariable rate fertilizer application methods. The amount of soil nutrient needto produce the maximum yield is created using site-specific map measures ofbiomass produced from a pass season created from a remotely sensed biomassimage (120).
