The present invention provides a plant growth regulator containing hemin, belonging to the field of development and utilization of plant growth regulator. The applying method comprises irrigating, spraying or immersing plants, plant organs and seeds with the plant growth regulator in which the final concentration of hemin is 0.001-1000mM. The application continues for 1-60 days, and 1-3 times per day. Such application can promote growth and evocation of plants, accelerate germination of seeds, enhance oxidation resistance, and improve stress resistance or tolerance. Owing to the low price of hemin and the related metabolic mechanism in vivo,such method possesses such advantages as no pollution, low cost and wide range of application, which make it applicable for chemical regulation and control of farmland, provenance agriculture, tissue culture, storage of fruits and vegetables, and preservation of cut flowers.
