Disclosed is a CDMA communication system and method that make it possible to accommodate a greater number of user terminals that can be connected per facilities investment. Ternary phase-shift keying (TPSK) modulation (1) is applied as primary modulation in a CDMA communication system. It is possible to deliver far performance in which the Eb/No ratio is improved by about 0.75 dB, in comparison with BPSK and QPSK modulation, in order to obtain the required signal quality.
