The invention relates to a method for producing electroconductive plastics, according to which non-wovens or wovens consisting of ductile, high-strength, metal-coated acrylic fibres are incorporated into thermoplastic polymer matrices by means of hot-pressing or by injection on an injection moulding machine, and into duroplastic materials by means of a laminating or winding process, largely maintaining the mechanical and electrical fibrous properties and the metallic coating. The two-dimensional and three-dimensional networks constructed from the metallised acrylic fibres exhibit high conductivity and also reinforce the plastic matrix, enabling plastic composites having high shielding effectiveness for protection against EMI and improved material resistance and material viscosity to be obtained.
