The present invention proposes a method and a communications system for transmitting signals in a communications system, wherein each of four code sets comprising exactly two two-shift complementary code pairs is assigned for communication between entities of the communications system. The inventive concept is characterised in that ideal aperiodic auto-correlation property and zero cross-correlation value associated with every fourth shift of aperiodic cross-correlation function allow to reach either increased capacity or unique resource allocation flexibility and/or data rate adjustments according to users' or system's requirements.
