This invention includes methods and systems for processing hydrogel ophthalmic lenses comprising silicone using aqueous solutions as leaching aids and as release aids, by exposing said ophthalmic lens to a first aqueous solution comprising about 4% or more of 2-pentanol; and heating said first aqueous solution to which the ophthalmic lens is exposed.
