The invention concerns gas-generating pyrotechnical compositions designed for civilian uses as well as the corresponding pyrotechnical compounds. Said compositions contain essentially stabilized ammonium nitrate as oxidant filler and a reducing filler which comprises: a first reducing element selected among guanidine nitrate, guanyl urea dinitramide and mixtures thereof; and a second reducing element selected among tetrazole, tetrazole derivatives and salts thereof, bitetrazole salts and derivatives thereof, 5,5'-azobitetrazole salts and mixtures thereof. Said pyrotechnical compositions are particularly efficient in terms of gas yield and combustion speeds. Said speeds have an advantageous plateau starting at 22 MPa.
