A method for extracting a polysaccharide from the fruit body of Fomitopsis pinicola is provided to improve production yield by 5-6 times compared with an already-known alkali extraction method. A method for extracting a polysaccharide from the fruit body of Fomitopsis pinicola comprises the steps of washing and pulverizing the fruit body of Fomitopsis pinicola; mixing the pulverized fruit body with an identical weight of 1.0-2.0 N KOH and swelling it for 1-2 hours; homogenizing the swollen fruit body, filtering it, and neutralizing it with an acid; and removing a salt and drying it to obtain a fruit body extract. Preferably the filtration is carried out by using a sieve of 50-100 mesh, and the salt is removed by dialysis or gel filtration.
