A paste composition for silicon carbide sintering and a method for preparing a porous silicon carbide filter using the same are provided to form a porous sintered body having higher porosity and excellent filtering efficiency with lower production cost by sintering at lower temperature. A paste composition for silicon carbide sintering comprises 33-73 wt% of silicon carbide powder, 7-17 wt% of an organic binder and 10-50 wt% of a mullite-based hollow sphere, on the basis of the total weight of composition, wherein the hollow sphere has a function for aiding formation of linkage within silicon carbide particles and allowing a porous structure to a sintered body during a sintering process. The paste composition is extruded into a predetermined shape, is dried and plugged, and then is sintered in an oxidizing atmosphere to prepare a porous silicon carbide filter. Further, an external diameter of the mullite-based hollow sphere is 5 to 200 mum.
