A linguistic & lexicographic system for making a rapid search for pronunciation of Japanese words involving Chinese characters is provided to enable a user to make a rapid and convenient search for pronunciation of Japanese words involving Chinese characters, and to make a Japanese word reading scheme used in an assistant language learning tool like an electronic dictionary for enhancing efficiency in reading and understanding the Japanese. A linguistic & lexicographic system for making a rapid search for pronunciation of Japanese words involving Chinese characters arranges Chinese characters and Kana characters by Hangul pronunciation according to a Hangul transliteration scheme of Kana while considering Japanese words, involving Chinese characters, as entry words, displays the entry words with the Hangul pronunciation, Hangul translation and example sentences in case of a Hangul version. In case of other language versions, the Kana characters are arranged according to the Hepburn system of romanizing Japanese and the Chinese characters are arranged according to pronunciation of a corresponding language.
