The ergometer (1) has a drive comprising two foot pedals (6, 6`) that are operated by an operating person against a braking action of a brake system. The brake is coupled to the brake system over an intermediate drive (10) that is attached to a sensor, where the sensor is designed as an optical or pressure sensor. The sensor is provided for measuring forces produced by the foot pedals on components of the intermediate drive to detect a drive power of the operating person.
