The device has a coupling device provided for transferring torque from a drive unit to a gear by using a coupling device, where a reduction/step-up gear unit (4) is provided before the coupling device. An output shaft (14) of the drive unit has an output shaft part (22) connectable with the drive unit, and another output shaft part (24) connectable with the coupling device. The output shaft part (22) stays in connection with a sun wheel (26), and the output shaft part (24) stays in connection with a planetary wheel set (28) or an internal gear (30). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a coupling device for a motor vehicle (2) a drive chain for a motor vehicle with a drive unit.
