The device has a drive arm (12) connected with a guide plate (11). The drive arm is highly movable, and is arranged at the two locating pins (5). Another guide plate (9) is coupled with the guide plate (11) by using a set of distance springs (16). The guide plate (11) is linearly displaceable against an arranged silicon slice (17), where the slice is positioned by a set of plug gauges (4) arranged at a retaining plate (3). The retaining plate is guided over equalizing springs (15) at a fastening plate (1). A force sensor is arranged between the retaining plate and the fastening plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for checking mono or polycrystalline silicon slices, of solar cells or silicon wafers.
