The device (2) has a piezoelectric unit (13) integrated in a surface of a motor vehicle seat (1). The piezoelectric unit is differently and strongly stressed to a bend under load by a passenger sitting on the seat surface based on respective weight (G). The piezoelectric unit is connected with an evaluating device (14), where the piezoelectric unit is designed as a piezo-film or piezo-foil and made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). An independent claim is also included for a method for determining motor vehicle seat allocation.
