The method involves acquiring a wrapper envelope (20) filled with a data medium e.g. compact disk, and cutting off side edges of two sides (20a, 20b), which are lying together, of the envelope. A corner section (20e) of the envelope formed by the two sides is lifted by a lifting device e.g. vacuum suction device. The data medium under a lifted corner section is taken by a horizontal withdrawal movement. The positioning of the data medium is taken place via tilting of the envelope. An independent claim is also included for a wrapper envelope for wrapping a circular data medium.
