The device has a seat-belt tightener (3) for automated tightening of a seat belt. A seat locking (12) is so arranged that it prevents a shifting of the seat (2) in a locked state and allows a shifting of the seat towards the driving direction (A) in a loosened state. The seat locking is automatically released. An activation mechanism (4) activates the tightening the seat-belt tightener together with the release of seat locking.
