The procedure involves connecting an internal combustion engine (2) with an electric motor (10). Torque that is introduced into a drive train (1) by the electric motor is increased before starting the combustion engine, such that the current desired torque is introduced into a gear box input (15). Surplus torque is extracted and introduced into the internal combustion engine by controlling a coupling (12). The internal combustion engine is started, when the internal combustion engine achieves a starting condition.
