The UV irradiator has a miniaturized lamp (3) with electrodes, which serve simultaneously as reflector, operating electronics (7) for operating the lamp, and an adapter (5) that is arranged in front of a radiation outlet window (4), where the irradiator is so handy that the irradiator is suitable as tool holder for manual application to a patient. The electronics is integrated into the tool holder, where the waveguide is adapted as an easily replaceable adapter to the radiation outlet window for the treatment of the skin diseases such as psoriasis or vitiligo.
