A passenger stairway (1) integrated with the fuselage (2) of an aircraft contains one stairway segment (4) with steps (8) and a link (10), and a second stairway segment (6) that is insertable into the link of the first stairway segment so that the stairway segments come to rest lying one on top of another. A stairway railing (12) is formed by multiple supports (13a-d) that are situated at a predefined interval in the longitudinal direction on both sides of the stairway segments. Independent claims are included for (1) method of inserting the passenger stairway into the fuselage of an aircraft; (2) method of extending the passenger stairway.
