Preparing oligo- or poly- thiophene compounds comprises (i) converting at least a dissolved thiophene derivative with two leaving groups to a polymerization reactive monomer; (ii) polymerizing the obtained product solution (1) by adding a solution of at least a catalyst; and (iii) polymerizing the product solution (2) for chain elongation on basis of the same thiophene derivative and/or at least an another thiophene derivative, after the product solution (1). Preparation of oligo- or poly- thiophene compounds comprises (i) converting at least a dissolved thiophene derivative with two leaving groups to a polymerization reactive monomer by (a) mixing a solution of at least a dissolved thiophene derivative with two leaving groups with a solution of a metal organic compound or (b) reacting a solution of at least a dissolved thiophene derivative with two leaving groups with an elementary metal; (ii) polymerizing the obtained product solution (1) by adding a solution of at least a catalyst; and (iii) polymerizing the product solution (2) for the chain elongation on basis of the same thiophene derivative and/or at least an another thiophene derivative, after the product solution (1).
