Printing ink containing (a) mixed oxide nano-particles comprising 50-99.9 wt% aluminum oxide and 0.1-50 wt% oxides of Main Group I or II elements (surface-modified with coating material) and optionally (b) micronised polyolefin wax. An independent claim is also included for printing ink as above, in which the mixed oxide nano-particles are obtained by evaporating to dryness a suspension of aluminum chlorohydrate, crystallisation nuclei and oxide former in amounts sufficient to provide the above content of Group I or II metal oxide, calcining for less than 30 minutes and pulverising the resulting agglomerates in a solvent in presence of a coating material.
