The method involves selectively connecting an external circuit to a measurement signal detection input of the circuit for configuring the circuit, whereby the measurement signal detection circuit detects the current and/or the voltage of the light source, the current and/or the supply voltage of a half-bridge, the input voltage of the operating device or a d.c. bus voltage with which the half-bridge is supplied.
