The electric domestic service device comprises a first storage tank (A) with a heat exchanger (60), and a second storage tank (B) which is designed as a laminated storage tank. The second storage tank serves for supplying hot water, wherein hot water from the second storage tank is cooled by action of the heat exchanger before it is delivered via a hot water pipe (WW). A second heat exchanger (70) is connected to the second storage tank and to a 3-way valve (50) which is connected to the first heat exchanger in the first storage tank. An independent claim is included for a method for controlling an electric domestic service device in which water in the second storage tank is heated to at least 64 degrees, and water heated in the second storage tank is cooled by the first storage tank to a temperature below that of the water in the water supply line (WZ).
