The method involves implementing reflection standards resembling short-circuit and open-circuit operation in which test ports (T1-T4) are physically equal. A calibration measurement is performed with a transmission path at a port and implemented by a short adapted line with known length and damping. A remaining calibration measurement is performed with the transmission path at the port and implemented by a through connection. Transmission values of the port are realized by an unknown reciprocal through connection.
