The machine i.e. sheet-fed rotary press (15) has a printing unit including a cylinder (6) covered with a hoist. Actuators (3) change the hoist in an axial and/or circumferential direction of the cylinder in its geometry. An image inspection device (19) is provided for geometrical measurement of printed sheets (20), and a computer (18) processes the measuring result. The computer executes a reference/actual value-comparison and controls the actuators in case of established deviations in such a manner that the established deviations are minimized.
