A sheet handling system, especially for stencil punching and embossing has the sheets taken from a supply stack and passed through the process stages and returned to an output stack. Each process stage is fitted with a retarder (20) which holds the sheets via suction. The improvement describes a cleaning process for the suction holes/slots using compressed air periodically directed through the suction holes.
