The device for carrying out at least one treatment on an animal, especially for milking of an animal, has the exit (7) provided with a barrier device (12) which opens the exit when a milking station has reached a predetermined position in front of the exit. The device has at least one sensor (23) which, depending upon the occupancy of the exit, delivers a signal to a control unit (17) of the barrier device. By means of another sensor (25), it is determined whether a following animal has reached a predetermined position for allowing opening of the barrier device.
