The method involves arranging a synthetic material such that the material partially covers a support (11) carrying a decorative pattern, where the pattern is obtained by printing on the support using a print e.g. ink jet print. The material is hardened for a given time for forming a decorated object, and the support is moistened. The support is separated from the object constituted of the synthetic material inside which the pattern migrates and is confined. The decorated object is dried, where the support is made of thick mat paper.
