The method involves detecting intention of a driver to leave his/her motor vehicle (1). State of an automatic parking brake of the vehicle is monitored if a condition translating the intention of the driver is satisfied. A warning process is implemented if the parking brake is released, and a control signal for locking the parking brake is elaborated in case of failure of the warning process. An independent claim is also included for a device for managing braking of a motor vehicle.
