The coupler (100) has a body (200) with a thread (220) extended by a cylindrical portion (230) introduced in an end of a pipe (T). A sleeve (300) has a thread (320) co-operating with the thread (220), and has a smooth cylindrical housing (330) arranged in an elongation of the thread (320). Annular bands (232) are arranged around the portion, and lock a wall of the end of the pipe against the housing for retaining the pipe in the coupler while providing a sealing between the pipe and the body due to mounting of the sleeve on the body. Each band has a semi-circular shaped radial section.
