The method involves soaking seeds e.g. soyabeans (10), in liquid medium for absorbing a quantity of water (19) in order to start germination. The seeds are germinated over a determined period according to the type of seeds for obtaining a determined sprout size. The seeds are subjected to slow germination without intaking water or with less water intake. The seeds are forced to carry out a rapid germination with the intake of water. An independent claim is also included for a system for producing sprouted seeds, comprising a soaking unit.
