The method involves introducing food (A) to be cooked or objects e.g. medical instrument, to be sterilized with adequate quantity of water in a tightly enclosed container. The water is boiled and vaporized under the pressure through a microwave region produced by a microwave generator (2) e.g. magnetron. The water in the container is passed through a waveguide (3) and a window (4) that is sealed with the water and permeable to microwaves and mounted in a closed opening (5), where the opening is formed in lower part of the container. An independent claim is also included for a pressure cooker or autoclave comprising a cistern and a cover implemented in an impermeable material to microwaves.
