Gas turbine compressor foil thrust bearing

A gas turbine engine includes a compressor rotor 314, a compressor stator 312 coupled upstream from the compressor rotor, and a bearing assembly 300 coupled there between. The bearing assembly 300 includes a pair of foil thrust bearings 334, 336 coupled to a portion of the compressor stator 312, and a pair of spring packs 338, 340 coupled substantially co-axially to the pair of foil thrust bearings 334, 336. A second bearing assembly may be coupled downstream from the bearing assembly 300, the second bearing assembly including a radial foil bearing 356. One of the foil thrust bearings 334 may be coupled upstream of a radially inner portion 328 of the compressor stator 312, the other foil thrust bearings 336 being coupled downstream of a radially inner portion 328 of the compressor stator 312.
