BOUNDARY EXTRACTION BY WEIGHTED LEAST-SQUARE METHOD USING SEPARATION MEASURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boundary extraction method, program and device for extracting a boundary (especially, the contour of the intravascular lumen and the contour of the intima) on image data (especially, intravascular ultrasonic image data) more smoothly and speedily with fewer seed points (points set by a user) than before.;SOLUTION: The boundary extraction method (program and device) is for extracting the boundary on image data, and comprises a temporary boundary setting step for finding a temporary boundary by the interpolation among a plurality of seed points set by the user on the image data, a separation measure distribution computing step for computing the separation measure in the pixels at least in the vicinity of the temporary boundary, and a boundary extraction step for finding the boundary based on the polynomial approximation by means of the least-square method with the separation measure in the pixels in the vicinity of the temporary border as the weighting coefficient.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
