PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a geodetic system and a geodetic meter 14 which rapidly and automatically find and capture a target point that has a target mark (retroreflector 2a) for measuring its distance.;SOLUTION: Electromagnet radiation is transmitted in the form of a vertical fan beam 17 by a transmitting unit 1, and the reflection is reflected by a target mark and then is received by the receiving unit having a visual field in a vertical fan shape. Plausibility check can be made or an unknown target and an interfering object can be reliably suppressed by analyzing signal strength and the size of an apparent object.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
