PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical microwave resonator and a method for forming the optical microwave resonator, which can be formed as a microcylinder, and provides a resonant waveguide cooperating with a circumferential coating.;SOLUTION: The optical microwave resonator includes the microcylinder, and the circumferential coating which is formed on the microcylinder, and has a higher index of refraction than the microcylinder. In order to form an addition/deletion filter, the circumferential coating has such thickness relative to the diameter of the microcylinder that the resonant waveguide is formed such that light is optically coupled from an optical source waveguide onto the microcylinder.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
