PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wear measuring device of a rider ring equipped with an explosion-proof structure capable of measuring directly the wear quantity of a rider ring in operation, and a wear prediction method of the rider ring capable of predicting highly accurately a wear life of the rider ring.;SOLUTION: A sensor fitting hole 12 is provided penetratingly on the side wall of a cylinder 1 facing to the circumferential surface of a piston 2 where the rider ring 4 is mounted, and a sensor 11 having the explosion-proof structure for detecting the distance to the circumferential surface of the piston 2 is fitted into the sensor fitting hole 12, and a receiver 15 for receiving a detection signal from the sensor 11 is provided, and a transmission box 16 is interposed between the receiver 15 and the sensor 11. Therefore, the wear quantity of the rider ring 4 can be directly measured, while securing the essentially-safe explosion-proof structure, by being connected to the receiver 15 through the sensor 11 having the explosion-proof structure and the transmission box 16.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
