PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a catalyst for synthesizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid by which catalytic activity is readily controlled and a catalyst having high activity and high selectivity is obtained and to provide a catalyst produced by the method and to provide a method for synthesizing the unsaturated aldehyde and the unsaturated carboxylic acid in a high yield by using the catalyst.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the catalyst for synthesizing the unsaturated aldehyde and the unsaturated carboxylic acid comprises a step for adding a liquid to particles containing molybdenum, bismuth and iron, kneading the particles with the liquid and carrying out extrusion forming of the kneaded material, a step for curing the resultant formed article and a step for drying and/or baking the formed article. In the method, a contact time of particles containing molybdenum, bismuth and iron with the liquid is 1-48 hr and curing time of the molded article is 50% of the contact time of particles containing molybdenum, bismuth and iron with the liquid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
