Oral hygiene inspection apparatus and intra-oral plaque volume measurement method

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for inspecting sanitary conditions in buccal cavities, which enables even a general user without expert knowledge, to easily and objectively examine sanitary conditions in one's own buccal cavity.;SOLUTION: The apparatus for inspecting sanitary conditions in buccal cavities is provided with a cell 60 for holding a sample collected from inside a buccal cavity; a measuring part 62 for measuring the amount of plaque in the sample; and a control part 64 for controlling the measuring part 62. The measuring part 62 is provided with both at least one gas sensor 61 for detecting volatile substances which occur from the sample and a detection circuit for detecting the amount of the volatile substances, on the basis of a volatile substance signal detected by the gas sensor 61. The amount of the volatile substances which is produced from the sample is detected by the detection circuit, to estimate the state of adhesion of plaque, and sanitary conditions in the buccal cavity are determined on the basis of this.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
