The present invention relates to a method for screening a gene involved in early recurrence of HCV-positive hepatocellular carcinoma associated with chronic hepatitis, comprising: determining an expression level of a gene in a noncancerous site from each of early and late recurrent cases of HCV-positive hepatocellular carcinoma associated with chronic hepatitis; and selecting a gene whose expression is increased in the early recurrent case compared with that in the late recurrent case. The present invention can provide a gene involved in recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma.
