The composition in layers to catalyze the production of alcanoatos of alquenila, process for producing alcanoatos of alquenila and process to prepare a catalyst for production of alcanoato of alquenila. It was developed a composition in layers, which can be used in several cases.The composition comprises an inner core, such as a cordierita core, and an outer layer comprising a refractory inorganic oxide, an inorganic fibrous component and a binder. The refractory inorganic oxide layer can be alumina, zirconia, titania, etc., while the fibrous component may be formed of fibers of titania, silica fibres, carbon fibres, etc.The binder of inorganic oxide may be silica, alumina, zirconia, etc. the layer may also contain a catalytic metals, such as gold and platinum, and other modifiers.The composition in layers is prepared by coating the inner core with a paste comprising inorganic oxide refractory fibrous component, a precursor of inorganic binder and an organic adhesion agent, such as polyvinyl alcohol. The composition can be used in several processes for conversion of hydrocarbons, including the production of vinyl acetate.
