The cutting tool has a cutting plate (4) i.e. indexable insert, arranged between extensions of an oblong shaft. The cutting plate exhibits a contact surface (6), with which the cutting plate rests against the shaft. The cutting plate is held between the extensions by a bolt, where the bolt lies on the cutting plate and is projected by a through hole of the cutting plate. A form of the through hole of the cutting plate differs from a circle in a plan view on the cutting plate, and the bolt lies at projections (8). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a ready-made cutting plate.
