The invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising a derivative of astarch, which starch comprises at least 95 wt.% ofamylopectin, based on dry substance of the starch, wherein the derivative isobtainable by cross-linking, etherification, esterification, or acombination thereof, of the starch. The invention further relates to a processfor preparing the adhesive composition and to the use thereoffor adhering wallpaper or billposters to a substrate.
