The present invention provides an agent for regulating brain plasticity, which comprises a substance affecting an epigenetic state selected from the group consisting of histone acetylation and DNA methylation. Preferably, the substance is a histone deacetylase inhibitor or DNA methyltransferase inhibitor. The agent of the present invention can be used for the remedy or prevention various diseases, disorders and/or conditions wherein the regulation (especially promotion (reactivation)) of brain plasticity is desired.
