The invention regards to a method, especially algorithm, for deblocking data of at least one image (f (x,y) ), wherein - at least two-dimensionally arranged input data of the image (f (x,y) ) are transformed or decomposed to get corresponding wavelet coefficients (Wf (x,y); Sl), - the wavelet coefficients (Wf (x,y) ) are processed (S2, S3) to get modulus maxima (MMf (x,y) ) in wavelet transform modulus maxima (WTMM) representation of the image (f (x,y) ), and - modulus maxima (MMf (x,y) ) are processed (S4) to detect noise and/or to detect extract edges on at least one level higher than level 1 to get extraction data (Ef (x,y) ), and - modified data of image (f (x,y) ) to be outputted are com¬ posed of extraction data (Ef (x, y) and of regularized data (A' f (x,y), M' f (x,y) ) regularized on level 1 (S5 - S9).
