This invention provides a semiconductor nanoparticle phosphor aggregate, which, in observing a single molecule using a semiconductor nanoparticle phosphor aggregate as a phosphor labeling agent, is free from a variation in luminescence wavelength and luminescence intensity for each particle and can realize stable evaluation, and a process for producing the aggregate and a method for observing a single molecule using the aggregate. The production process comprises the step of producing nucleus particles by a liquid phase method or a gas phase method and the step of growing or fusing the nucleus particles and is characterized in that the particle number concentration of the produced nucleus particles is not more than a specific concentration.
