(A) is an alkylene polyamine having the formula! ! where R1, R2, and R3 independently represent H or -R5-N (R4) 2, where not all of R1, R2, and R3 represent H; ! R4 is H or —R5 — N (R8) 2; ! R8 independently represents H or R5; and R5 is (i) a C1-C23 alkylene or alkenyl group optionally substituted or branched; or (ii) an aryl group; ! (B) is a dicarboxylic acid or a reactive derivative of such an acid having the formula:! NOOS-R5-COOH,! where R5 has the meanings indicated above; and! (C) represents! (i) a fatty acid having the formula! R6-COOH,! where R6 represents a linear or branched C6-C23 alkyl or alkenyl group; and / or! (ii) an alkyl ester or glyceride of a fatty acid (i). ! 2. The oligomeric amidoamine salt obtained by neutralizing the oligomeric amidoamine according to claim 1 with a mineral and / or organic acid. ! 3. The oligomeric amide-quaternary ammonium compound obtained by quaternization of the oligomeric amidoamine according to claim 1 with an alkylating agent. ! 4. The oligomeric amidoamine according to claim 1, where the molar ratio of dicarboxylic acid (B) to polyamine (A) is from about 0.5 to about 0.8. ! 5. The oligomeric amidoamine according to claim 1, where the molar ratio of fatty acid (C) to polyamine (A) is from about 0.5 to about 1.5. ! 6. The oligomeric amidoamine according to claim 1, wherein R5 is a C1-C6 alkylene or alkenyl group optionally substituted or branched. ! 7.
