The device (1) has a multiplier circuit (7) with inputs that receive capacitor voltage and current measuring signals (5, 6). Power-proportional output signal (8) is fed to a median filter (9). An output signal of the filter is led to a dividend of a divider circuit (11). The signal (6) is fed to inputs of another multiplier circuit (12). An output signal (13) of the circuit (12) is led to a divisor of the divider circuit over another median filter such that a signal corresponding to a loss resistance of an electrolytic capacitor (2) is tapped at an output of the divider circuit.
