The high pressure fuel pump arrangement has a pump housing (3) for operating a compression-ignition internal combustion engine, a low-pressure circuit (5a) and a high-pressure circuit. The pump housing is operated by a valve camshaft (2) which is mounted in a cylinder head (1) of the internal combustion engine. A piston (4a) of the high-pressure fuel pump arrangement is moved by a polygonal configuration (8) of the valve camshaft. The components of the high-pressure fuel pump arrangement are integrated in the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine.
