The parking brake has a control device for e.g. drawbar (7), pivoting around a horizontal axis (8) with a brake unit acting on a wheel (6) of an axle (3,5). A unit is provided for operating the braking unit by pivoting the control device with devices to block the wheel of an axle of the trailer (1) at the commencement of rolling away of the trailer by the operation of the braking unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a parking brake for a multiaxle hanger.
